Theme 01
Health
JKB led an incredibly healthy and active lifestyle. Our goal is to invest in companies that create better health outcomes. Ocular Melanoma is an under-researched, under-funded, rare form of cancer, and we saw first-hand the impacts of both good, and bad, healthcare. There are massive disparities in access to quality and affordable care, and our goal is to partner with founders that are creating companies to fix this.
Theme 02
Capital
JKB ensured that we valued hard work as income often meant security. We believe that financial security and access to capital markets can meaningfully impact one's happiness. Our goal is to partner with founders that are building companies to democratize access to capital for historically underserved markets and demographics.
Theme 03
Knowledge
JKB was a lifelong learner. We think of knowledge as access to education, both curriculum-based and not. We believe that education can create enriched and happier lives. Our goal is to partner with founders that are building companies for the next generation of education and knowledge transfer.
Theme 04
Safety
Like most parents, JKB was happy if we (her kids) were safe. However, we now recognize that there are different types of safety – both physical and digital safety. Our goal is to partner with founders building companies that keep people safe.
Theme 05
Adventure
JKB loved adventure. We believe that this is reflective of a trend in younger generations – people valuing experience over things. Our goal is to partner with founders that are creating companies to enable adventure, travel, and experience.
Theme 06
Things
While JKB certainly loved adventure, she also liked nice things. Another definition of this category would be hard assets (real estate, land, art, collectibles, etc.). There is a fundamental shift in how physical space is being used, and a democratization of investing in alternative assets, and our goal is to support these trends.
